Lifetime’s “Dance Moms” Features A Record Eight Songs By Rachael Sage In Season 4
New York, NY - Award-winning singer-songwriter and former School Of American Ballet dancer Rachael Sage has a record seven songs featured in season 4 of Lifetime TV's #1 unscripted program "Dance Moms", airing now on Tuesdays at 9pm ET/PT. Sage's song "Birthday" from her critically acclaimed 10th album Haunted By You appeared in the season premiere on Jan 1st and propelled the song into the Top 50 of the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Songs Chart. Seven additional placements followed including five more songs from that record, "Down My Spine" from 1998's Smashing the Serene, "Frost" and "Bravedancing" from 2003's Public Record, the latter aired to 1.99 million viewers, in episode 16 that re-airs April 22nd at 8pm ET/PT.
Over the last few years, the use of Sage's music has grown rapidly within the competitive dance community. Her music now appears in hundreds of dance competition and routine videos - as collected via her YouTube channel's Dance Playlist - with over 1.6 million combined YouTube views. "Frost" from Public Record appears in a majority of these videos, which could be attributed to its long-standing status as Sage's most-downloaded song.
As a fan of the show, Sage is thrilled that her music has been selected for so many beautiful dances this season and performed by such talented young dancers. The opportunity is especially meaningful as Sage was a professional dancer before she began her career as a musician. She taught herself piano by ear while listening to the classical and popular music she heard in dance class. She studied at the School of American Ballet, and performed in classics such as "The Nutcracker", "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Coppelia" with The New York City Ballet. To this day, when she works on a composition, she still envisions choreography and dancers; this will be evident on her upcoming EP New Destination available in May.
In addition, as a result of forging so many direct relationships with young dancers and admirers of "Dance Moms" via Twitter and YouTube, Sage has decided to develop a workshop for young students, along her tour; the workshop would focus on enhancing self-esteem through the arts, and ways in which her self-expression as a dancer, musician and visual artist enabled her to face obstacles and build confidence.
