Rachael Sage

Hello, bathing beauties!

It's been a little while since we've sent Rachael Sage's last newsletter, so we wanted to check in, wish everyone a happy summer, and send some giant *virtual hugs*. Our hearts have been heavy with recent tragic events across the country and around the globe, but nonetheless, we know that music heals and that creative expression is needed now more than ever.

Along those lines, Rachael has written and recorded a brand new song called "Disarm Distrust" which will she'll debut next month at a hometown concert fundraiser in NYC, presented by her label MPress Records. 100% of all proceeds from both the upcoming concert and her new song will benefit the GLBT Center in Orlando, and of course we'll let you know as soon as it's available.

Details for the Orlando benefit, upcoming shows & more are below...

1. BENEFIT CONCERT FOR ORLANDO: ROCKWOOD MUSIC HALL (NYC)

Orlando Benefit at Rockwood 3

In response to the tragedy in Orlando last month, Rachael has organized a benefit concert and invited some of her favorite artists to join her. On Tuesday August 2nd, she'll share the stage with Seth Glier, Michelle Citrin & Matt Nakoa at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3 @ 8:15pm. We truly hope our NYC-area friends will come out to help us support our beneficiary, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida. Read the official press release, & purchase tickets!

2. RACHAEL TEAMS UP WITH DAVE EGGAR TO RECORD NEW SONG "DISARM DISTRUST"

drawing by Rachael SageThe lyrics to Rachael's new song "Disarm Distrust" came to her quickly, in the hours following the Orlando shooting at Pulse. "I felt so overwhelmed — and like so many people, I was struggling to understand the senselessness of the tragedy, the depth of loss in the LGBT community in Orlando, and how to turn my sadness and outrage into something positive," she explains.

She decided to call up her longtime friend and collaborator Dave Eggar (Evanescence, Coldplay), because "he's the most emotionally available musician I know. If he hears a lyric that touches him, he weeps. He's open, loving and musically brilliant, and I trust him completely as an artist." Within a few days the song was recorded by Grammy® Nominated engineer John Shyloski, anchored by Rachael's acoustic and electric guitars and Dave's soulful cello accompaniment; Sage's longtime bandmate Andy Mac contributed percussion. Keep an eye on Rachael's Facebook Page or her website for news on the song's release later this month.

3. HOST A HOUSE CONCERT WITH RACHAEL!

Rachael is still very much on tour in support of her new album "Choreographic", with scattered shows throughout the summer & then a full-blown European Tour scheduled for the Fall. However, she does have a few gaps in her schedule between August 14-31, September 11-17, and December 1-18. If you've ever considered hosting a house concert featuring Rachael, we'd *love* to help you make that happen!! Check out Rachael's page on Fanswell to learn more and see which regions she's hoping to visit at which times, or email booking@mpressrecords.com with questions and ideas.

4. A THANK YOU TO OUR FRIENDS AT RADIO FOR MAKING RACHAEL'S "TRY TRY TRY" #6

Radio Chart

As many of you know, it's not easy for an indie artist to "break" at Radio in any format. Generally speaking, the airwaves are filled with major label releases, and rarely do DJ's feel they can carve space for a lesser-known independent — but it does happen on occasion. This past month was such an occasion for Rachael! :) We're grateful and happy to share that Rachael's current single "Try Try Try" broke the FMQB AC Top 10 – her very 1st Top 10 in her entire career! – and charted at #6, alongside such artists as Sia, DNCE & Adele. Here's a special note of thanks from Rachael to mark the occasion:

"Thanks so much to every DJ who's had the chutzpah to add a folk-pop song by an indie chick to their summer playlists, filled with platinum-selling major artists. While I've believed in this song and its radio potential since my inner-circle (aka my parents) first told me it was 'damn catchy', it was still a welcome surprise to see it climbing the charts, and it means much more to me after releasing 12 albums than it ever could've a decade ago. And to everyone who requested it so far at their local stations, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Love you & thank you for your belief in my music!"

5. RACHAEL SHARES A VERY PERSONAL STORY VIA "I AM A MOGUL"

Have you ever wondered what drives Rachael to write so many of her songs about empowerment, from "Wildflower" to "Bravedancing" to "Sacrifice" to most recently, "I Don't Believe It"? Well, you can find out by reading a very personal article Rachael shared with "I Am A Mogul". Based upon a TEDx speech she prepared but had to cancel when she became ill, the piece is very personal but also illuminates a lot about Sage's background, and her drive to be an independent musician and to do things her way, even if it was the harder way. Read the article HERE.

Here are a few more assorted articles and reviews lately about Rachael's album "Choreographic", along with her latest Tour Vlog, featuring dancer Kaci King. Enjoy!
