New York, NY – April 6, 2018 – Kicking off her national headlining tour, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Rachael Sage releases "Sistersong 2018" and premieres the track with BUST Magazine. The song is a special 20th Anniversary version of her beloved 1998 feminist anthem and appears on her forthcoming album, Myopia, out May 4 via MPress Records/ILS/Caroline. All proceeds from "Sistersong 2018" will benefit national charity Girls Inc. Listen and share “Sistersong 2018” and purchase the single on iTunes.

Featuring buzzed-about guest artists Nalani & Sarina, Gabrielle Louise, and Irish chanteuse Fiona Harte, the newly re-imagined "Sistersong 2018" mirrors the #MeToo and Women's March movements and is an empowering ode to sisterhood in all its many forms. The song was originally recorded in 1998 as a tribute to fellow artist and businesswoman Ani DiFranco, whose independent spirit and commitment to running her pioneering indie record label Righteous Babe was among the catalysts for Sage to found her own label, MPress Records.

Sage shares further insight: "I've written hundreds of songs, but this particular composition has been a huge good luck charm for me, and in many ways it's also defined who I am as an artist today. When I first shared the song with my early inspiration, Ani DiFranco, she was graciously enthusiastic and invited me to go on tour with her because the song captured her so much. That experience was incredibly formative and I carried the confidence and empowerment of her generous mentoring into many subsequent opportunities, including Lilith Fair. Since then, the song became a fan favorite and seemed to find particular resonance at LGBTQ events and Pride Festivals, where I'm still always excited and honored to perform it!"

Sage also wanted to support a new generation of girls by donating the proceeds from "Sistersong 2018" to Girls Inc., who deliver life-changing programs and experiences that encourage the holistic development of girls around the country. Sage states, "I'm so excited that 100% of all proceeds from 'Sistersong 2018' will benefit Girls Inc., whose mission is to 'equip girls to overcome serious barriers to grow up strong, smart and bold.'"

The single is taken from her new album Myopia, which releases May 4 and is a sonic departure for Sage with a much stronger emphasis on her guitar playing over her usual piano palette. The collection also includes inventive contributions by Hoboken-based guitarist James Mastro (Patti Smith, Ian Hunter) and was produced by Sage and mixed by her longtime collaborator and Grammy® winner Andy Zulla.

Sage recently opened for synth-pop wizard Howard Jones during 7 weeks of his almost sold out U.S. tour. Her own national headlining tour is currently underway; full tour routing can be found below and via Sage's website.

ABOUT RACHAEL SAGE: Since founding her own label MPress Records two decades ago, NYC-based alt-pop artist Rachael Sage has steadily released a slew of vibrant, dynamic albums with poetic lyrics spanning subjects as wide as her inspirations. She has toured with an eclectic list of artists including Ani DiFranco, Beth Hart, Sarah McLachlan, Judy Collins and Howard Jones. Sage also continues to significantly grow her visibility via her many song placements, having recently landed her 22nd song on top reality show Dance Moms, translating into over 10 million YouTube hits. Her upcoming album Myopia (due May 4) is a bold departure for Sage, with a much stronger emphasis on her guitar playing over her signature piano palette. Produced by Sage and her longtime engineer John Shyloski, the album features drummer Doug Yowell (Joe Jackson, Duncan Sheik), keyboardist Rob Curto (Lila Downes), trumpeter Russ Johnson (Elvis Costello, Deborah Harry) and bassist Mike Visceglia (Suzanne Vega). Shortly following her opening slot on Howard Jones' U.S. tour in 2018, Sage will headline a series of national shows in support of Myopia and is continuing with a full schedule of performances throughout the year.
